Dr Shiyamala Eswaran completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, in 2002. She did her initial training in Sri Lanka and practised at Jaffna Teaching Hospital before moving to Australia. She completed her AMC Certificate in 2009 and continued with her professional development, and was awarded a Certificate in Primary Skin Cancer Medicine from the University of Queensland in 2015. She also completed her Diploma with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrician and Gynaecology (DRANZCOG) in 2015. Dr Shiyamala completed the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2016.
Dr Shiyamala has worked in Australia for over 12 years, including nine years of GP experience. She commenced her Australian medical career at Ipswich Hospital. She then practised at Mackay Base Hospital and Toowoomba Base Hospital prior to moving into General Practice. She practised at various medical facilities in rural QLD before moving to Highfields and Toowoomba where she continued to practice in General Practice.
Dr Shiyamala has a special interest in Women’s Health, Antenatal Care, Skin Cancer Medicine and all other aspects of general practice. She also undertakes minor procedures, including Implanon insertion and removal, Mirena insertion and removal, Iron Infusion, Ingrown Toenail removal, Skin Cancer removal and Minor Skin procedures.
She also speaks Tamil.
